The Flying Bobbins Honey Backpack Pattern & Tutorial

The Flying Bobbins Honey Backpack is a great bag for your daily needs.  With a secure zip closure, roomy interior and secret pocket, theres a place for everything.  Featuring 2 internal pockets and a hidden zip pocket on the outside of the bag as well as a key fob and beautiful bound lining.  The Honey Backpack has a fold-over front flap with decorative trim and swivel snap closure.  The squared-off base can be made in a contrast cloth and the bag is finished with a grab handle and adjustable shoulder straps.

Choice of paper or PDF pattern.  Both include a full video sew-along tutorial.

• 0.5m Fabric for the outer
• 0.7m Cotton for the lining
• 0.4m x 70cm piece of contrast cloth for the base
• 0.5m Vlieseline fusible fleece
• 2m x 27mm Double fold binding
• 0.5m x Continuous zip
• 1 x Ring zip puller
• 1 x 20cm Closed end zip for the pocket
• 1 x Lobster clip
• 2 x 30mm Metal strap adjusters
• 2 x 30mm Rectangle rings
• 1 x 30mm metal snap hook

FABRIC SUGGESTIONS:

For the Main Bag Outer 

Use sturdy, non-stretch woven fabric such as: Half Panama, Linenlook Half Panama, Canvas, Cotton Twill, Gaberdine, Denim, Ottoman, Tapestry Fabric, or, for a softer look try a Quilted Fabric.

For the Base

Use sturdy, non-stretch woven fabric such as: Leatherette, PU, Soft-Shell, Denim, Canvas.  Dark colours will fair well for the bag base.

For the Lining

Medium weight, non-stretch woven fabrics such as: Cotton Poplin or Quilter's Cotton.
